Authorities in San Diego are on the hunt for suspects involved in a series of residential burglaries that have rattled the Mira Mesa neighborhood.
Caught on Video: Brazen Burglars Strike
One of the burglaries was captured on video surveillance, revealing the audacity of the suspects as they carted away a large safe from one of the victim’s residences. The footage depicts the perpetrators loading the safe into a small, late-model, potentially dark-colored SUV before making their getaway.
Pattern of Crime Emerges
According to Lt. Daniel Meyer of the San Diego Police Department, there have been a total of seven additional burglaries in the area as of March 4, all linked to the same group of suspects. The perpetrators seem to favor corner houses and typically gain entry through rear sliding glass doors.
Modus Operandi: Glass Doors Targeted
In some instances, the suspects shattered the glass on sliding doors to gain access, while in others, they exploited doors left unsecured. Once inside, they ransacked the homes, making off with safes, cash, and jewelry.
Suspects on the Loose
Authorities describe the suspects as young men in their late teens or early twenties. The police have released a photo of one of the individuals believed to be involved in the burglaries.
Community Vigilance Urged
Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any sightings of vehicles resembling those used in the burglaries or any suspicious activities to the authorities promptly.
Collaborative Efforts for Safety
As law enforcement agencies continue their search for the perpetrators, it’s imperative for the community to work together, staying alert and proactive in safeguarding their neighborhoods against such criminal activities. With concerted efforts and prompt reporting, residents can help ensure the safety and security of their homes and communities.
