San Leandro, Calif. – Police in San Leandro have apprehended a suspect believed to be responsible for the shooting of a 4-year-old boy. Last Wednesday, just after 2 p.m., authorities received a call reporting a shooting in the 400 block of West Juana Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found the young victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to the leg. The child was promptly given medical attention before being transported to the hospital by ambulance. Fortunately, the injuries were deemed non-life-threatening.

Suspect Identified and Arrested

The alleged perpetrator, identified as 33-year-old Adam Johnson from Oakland, reportedly fired five shots into one of the residences from a shared driveway of a multi-unit residential property. Tragically, one of those shots struck the 4-year-old victim, who was in an adjacent residential unit.

Authorities believe Johnson’s motive for the shooting was related to a reported stolen vehicle, which he allegedly intended to recover from the target residence. Following the incident, Johnson was taken into custody on Thursday.

According to the Alameda County District Attorney’s office, Johnson is facing serious charges in connection with the shooting. He has been charged with two counts of attempted homicide, along with enhancements and special circumstances related to the use of firearms and inflicting great bodily injury.
