Authorities are investigating a fatal train collision that occurred in Carlsbad, California, resulting in the death of one man on Tuesday evening.
According to reports from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the incident was reported around 5:45 p.m. in the vicinity north of the Carlsbad Village Coaster Station, near the Coast Highway bridge.
Response by Emergency Personnel
Upon receiving the call, Carlsbad Police officers and fire department personnel promptly responded to the scene. They discovered a male victim who had been struck by a northbound North County Transit District (NCTD) COASTER train. Sadly, the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the site.
Investigation Underway
In light of the incident, Carlsbad Police requested the assistance of the Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit (TEU). This specialized unit is tasked with investigating incidents that occur along the routes of the NCTD.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will be responsible for identifying the deceased individual and determining the cause and manner of his death. However, as of now, the victim’s identity has not been released to the public.

Previous Incident Highlights Concerns
This tragic event comes less than a week after another fatal incident involving a Sprinter train occurred in neighboring Vista. Like the Carlsbad incident, this case is also being investigated by the Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit (TEU).
