In a significant crackdown dubbed Operation: Spring Fling, law enforcement agencies collaborated in a three-night sting operation in San Antonio, Texas. The initiative, executed on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights, resulted in the apprehension of more than 30 individuals.

Multiple Agencies Join Forces

Led by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the operation saw participation from various law enforcement bodies, including the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, San Antonio Police Department, Converse Police Department, and Boerne Police Department. Lt. Jason Reyes from DPS confirmed the joint effort.

Arrests and Charges

A total of 34 arrests were made during the operation, according to Lt. Reyes. Most of the apprehended individuals are facing charges related to solicitation of prostitution. Notably, court records indicate that two suspects, Joseph Silva, 42, and Bret Peterson, 21, are implicated in soliciting minors.

Joseph Silva faces charges of online solicitation of a minor, while Bret Peterson is accused of soliciting a prostitute and criminally soliciting a minor, as reported by KSAT 12 News.

Modus Operandi Revealed

Johnny Garcia, a public information officer for the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, shed light on the operation’s methodology. Suspects arrived at a hotel under the impression that they were meeting individuals they had interacted with online. However, investigators, posing as women or minors, had engaged with them on the internet.

Upon arrival, the suspects were promptly apprehended by law enforcement officers and taken into custody. It’s worth noting that none of the individuals arrested were guests of the hotel; rather, the premises were used strategically by investigators for the operation’s execution. The exact address of the hotel has been withheld for security reasons.
