Tatum’s innovative approach has garnered support from Texas A&M University’s Center for Coffee Research. Drawing inspiration from the center’s work in international settings, Tatum proposed leveraging coffee to stimulate economic growth in inner cities. Johnny Wallace, a former participant in the street drug trade, enthusiastically supports Tatum’s vision. Wallace, acknowledging his past involvement with grams, expresses his commitment to embracing a new perspective and channeling efforts into the coffee initiative.

A notable success story in the realm of coffee entrepreneurship is Firegrounds Coffee Co., founded in 2019 by Dallas firefighters Paul Clarke and Kyle Lund. The company’s expansion into over 326 Walmart stores in Texas reflects the growing interest and demand for specialty coffee.

As part of a five-year cooperative effort with Texas A&M, Tatum plans to repurpose his childhood home into the Prayer Room Coffee House. This transformative project will involve preserving the historical integrity of the house while incorporating modern amenities, such as dorm rooms and a specialty coffee kitchen.

When questioned about funding, Tatum humbly acknowledges the divine providence thus far.
