LEANDER, Texas – A man has been arrested in connection to the fentanyl-related death of a 16-year-old, according to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
Arrest and Charges
Kreli Haynes was apprehended by US Marshals and the Cedar Park Police Department on a murder warrant issued by the sheriff’s office. The warrant stemmed from an incident on December 16, 2023, in the 2500 block of Socorro Bend in Leander, where deputies responded to an alleged fentanyl overdose.

Over the weekend, Leander ISD confirmed the death of one of its students due to suspected fentanyl poisoning, sending shockwaves through the community and prompting a warning from the victim’s parents.
Investigation and Additional Charges
Authorities, during their investigation, gathered evidence implicating Haynes in the sale of fentanyl, leading to his arrest on murder charges. He is also facing additional charges related to drug possession and unlawful carry.
