Early Saturday morning witnessed a tragic two-vehicle crash on FM 973 in southeast Austin, close to the airport, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and injuring four others, as reported by Austin-Travis County EMS (ATCEMS).

Details of the Incident

At around 2:37 a.m., ATCEMS medics responded to a distress call concerning a vehicle rescue operation between 2400 and 4500 N. FM 973. Upon arrival, they discovered a grim scene, with indications of multiple fatalities. Seven individuals were involved in the crash, and tragically, three were pronounced dead at the scene.

One adult was found trapped inside one of the vehicles. Emergency responders worked tirelessly to extricate the individual and subsequently airlifted them via STAR Flight helicopter to Dell Seton hospital due to critical, life-threatening injuries.

The remaining three injured individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported by ambulance to St. David’s South for further medical attention.
