In its first month of operation, Greensboro’s new Crossmax Purple bus route has garnered significant attention and usage, boasting an average ridership of nearly 7,600 individuals per week.

High Ridership Indicates Favorable Reception

Since its inception, the Crossmax Purple route has seen impressive numbers, with over 8,400 riders recorded during its second and third weeks. Commuters like Selma Mitchell have praised the efficiency of the route, noting that it enables faster travel to various destinations, such as the retail district of Wendover Avenue/Bridford Parkway and GTCC Wendover.

Convenient Access to Key Destinations

The route’s strategic stops include prominent educational institutions like UNC-Greensboro and North Carolina A&T State University, making it a preferred choice for students like Kadin Henningham, who can obtain free passes for the service. The consolidation of stops from the previous GTA routes 1 and 10 into the Crossmax Purple route has streamlined commuting for many residents.

Concerns have been raised regarding the accessibility of the route from the downtown train and bus depot, particularly for those disembarking from the eastbound route.
