MARANA, Ariz. — Today, Marana Regional Airport hosted a solemn memorial service to commemorate the 19 Marines who tragically lost their lives in a training accident on April 8, 2000. The service marked 24 years since the devastating event that shook the military community and the nation.

A Touching Tribute
The service, attended by Major Mark Davis and numerous others, saw each Marine solemnly named and recognized. Major Davis, reflecting on the importance of the event, highlighted how it served to remind the nation that servicemen and women can lose their lives in training exercises, not just in combat.
Commitment to Remembrance
Mike Flynn, the National Vice Commandant of the Marine Corps League and emcee of the memorial service, emphasized their ongoing commitment to honoring the fallen. He expressed a hope for increased participation from the families of the fallen Marines at next year’s service, which will mark the 25th anniversary of the tragic crash.
