COLUMBUS, Ohio – Jacob Laurence, 34, is set to appear in the Franklin County Common Pleas Court at 9 a.m. on Tuesday to begin his trial for the suspected beating death of Stephan Albright, 57.
Laurence faces charges of reckless homicide and tampering, as indicted on March 14, in connection to Albright’s death.
Tragic Discovery in Marble Cliff
Albright was discovered deceased near the train tracks in Marble Cliff on West Fifth Avenue, just east of Dublin Road, in November. His death sparked an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Surveillance Video Leads to Person of Interest
Authorities brought Laurence in for questioning after surveillance footage implicated him and another individual, seen on bikes near the area where Albright’s body was found. Despite being identified as a person of interest, the other individual has not faced charges related to the case.

Laurence’s legal history includes a warrant for his arrest due to violating the terms of his community control stemming from a burglary case in 2023.
