A Greensboro man, Alton Johnny Bright Jr., 28, is facing multiple charges following a crash in front of Vandalia Christian School, according to a Guilford County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Attempted Traffic Stop Escalates
On Tuesday around 11:17 p.m., a deputy from the GCSO initiated a traffic stop on Pleasant Garden Road near Industrial Avenue. Bright Jr., the driver, accelerated at a high speed, attempting to flee from the deputy.
Crash in Front of School
Bright Jr. led the deputy on a pursuit for about a mile before crashing in front of Vandalia Christian School. Despite the deputy’s attempts to catch up, Bright Jr. managed to flee the scene, leaving behind a crashed vehicle and injured individuals.
Charges Filed Against Bright Jr.
Warrants were issued for Bright Jr. with the following charges:
- Felony speed to elude
- Possession of a firearm by a felon
- Possession of a stolen firearm
- Possession of marijuana
- Careless and reckless driving
- Speeding
On Wednesday, Bright Jr. was served with all active warrants, and additional charges were added, including:
- Felony hit-and-run with serious injury
- Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver a Schedule III controlled substance

Bright Jr. was denied bond and taken into custody at the Greensboro Detention Center. He appeared in court on Thursday, where a $100,000 secured bond was set. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
