Oregon City, Oregon – A 23-year-old man, Adonai Gabriel-Escamilla, was arrested after attempting to stab a police officer in Oregon City on Saturday, as reported by the Oregon City Police Department.

Suspicious Incident at Jiffy Lube

Just before 1 p.m., law enforcement responded to a report of a suspicious person at a Jiffy Lube located at 13851 Beavercreek Road. Gabriel-Escamilla, who had been reported for trespassing earlier in the day, evaded officers during a previous encounter by darting through traffic.

Confrontation Escalates

Upon officers’ arrival at the scene, Gabriel-Escamilla brandished a knife and allegedly attempted to stab one of them. He then fled on foot and sought refuge in a business with patrons inside, where he forcibly entered and barricaded himself.

Chase and Arrest

Law enforcement endeavored to secure the area and safeguard bystanders. After a pursuit, Gabriel-Escamilla dropped the weapon and was subsequently apprehended. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the incident, with his condition reported as stable.

Eyewitness Account

Brandon Neldner, proprietor of The Hive Taphouse nearby, recounted witnessing Gabriel-Escamilla’s apprehension, stating that police utilized a taser to subdue him before effecting the arrest.

Legal Ramifications

Gabriel-Escamilla is expected to face multiple charges, including attempted aggravated murder of a police officer. Law enforcement authorities have encouraged individuals with relevant footage of the incident to come forward and assist with investigations.

As of Saturday evening, plans are underway to lodge Gabriel-Escamilla at the Clackamas County Jail upon his discharge from medical care.
