Scottsdale Police officials have reported that arrests have been executed in connection with a vandalism incident at BASIS Scottsdale charter school, resulting in damages exceeding $40,000. The arrests were made by the School Resource Unit and burglary detectives on Jan. 18. While the suspects’ identities and ages have not been disclosed, charges for Aggravated Criminal Damage and Trespass are pending with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, awaiting the completion of evidence collection.

Surveillance Details Unveiled

The incident, initially reported on Jan. 15, occurred on the night of Jan. 14. Upon responding to reports of criminal damage on Jan. 15, police revealed that surveillance cameras captured two juveniles entering the school grounds by going under a fence. The juveniles proceeded to throw rocks, causing extensive destruction to the school property, including the shattering of over 30 windows.

This unfortunate incident marks the third act of vandalism at BASIS Scottsdale charter school within the past 13 to 14 months. School officials provided details on the previous incidents, indicating that there was an occurrence in December 2022 and another in March 2023.
