Arc Jacksonville Villages Evacuated

Residents of the Arc Jacksonville Villages, a community housing development for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, were evacuated following a brush fire on the Southside of Jacksonville.

Nine individuals were safely evacuated from their homes, with no reported injuries. Kari Bates, President of the Arc, expressed gratitude to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (JFRD) for their swift response in ensuring the safety of the residents.

Cause of the Fire

The brush fire was reportedly ignited by a warming fire at a nearby homeless camp in the woods. Action News Jax observed remnants of the camp, including burnt clothing and shopping carts, near the site of the fire.
