LONG BEACH, Calif. – A kidnapping suspect evaded California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers, leading them on a chase along the 710 Freeway in Long Beach.
Brief Chase Ends in Compton Standoff
The suspect, believed to be connected to a kidnapping case, initiated a short pursuit that concluded in an extended standoff in Compton. Despite attempts by law enforcement to halt the van, the suspect continued to evade capture, intermittently halting the vehicle before finally coming to a stop in Compton.
Standoff Ends in Arrest
Following the standoff, which lasted for several hours, tactical law enforcement personnel successfully apprehended the suspect, who had refused to surrender despite being fired upon with nonlethal rounds. The suspect was removed from the white van and taken into custody.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities have not disclosed the specific kidnapping case to which the suspect is linked. The incident occurred on Friday evening, and images of the suspect’s van were captured by SkyFOX around 5 p.m.
