Sgt. Juan Gutierrez, the public information officer for FWPD, disclosed that the shooting took place shortly after 2:30 p.m. Brandon D. Key Jr., 22, has been apprehended and is facing preliminary charges, including criminal recklessness, intimidation, and resisting law enforcement.

The incident prompted an Emergency Alert from the Fort Wayne Police Department, urging people to avoid the area. Glenbrook Mall, situated at 4201 Coldwater Road, was closed for the rest of the day following the shooting, as confirmed by Sgt. Gutierrez to WANE 15, a local news outlet.

According to Sgt. Gutierrez, the shooting unfolded within the mall’s food court. While two individuals were reportedly armed, only one discharged a firearm. One victim sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to a lower extremity, while another was hospitalized for a possible fracture incurred during the ensuing panic.

Moments after the incident, law enforcement officers were observed near Dan’s Porch and Patio, close to the mall. Video footage captured by WANE 15 showed the apprehension of Brandon D. Key Jr.

At present, authorities do not believe there is an immediate threat to public safety. However, officers continued to clear the mall premises as of 4 p.m. The mall reopened the following day, albeit with several stores remaining closed.
