A tragic incident unfolded in Mesa, Arizona, as a woman lost her life in an officer-involved shooting in a neighborhood near Center and 14th Streets.
Incident Details
The fatal encounter occurred around 11 a.m. on May 2, escalating from a distress call made by the woman’s roommate. The roommate reported to 911 that the suspect, identified as the woman, was allegedly inside the residence threatening her boyfriend.
Upon arrival, officers were briefed by the roommate outside the residence, indicating that the boyfriend was unable to exit the premises. Subsequently, law enforcement instructed the woman to exit the residence with her hands raised. Inside, they could hear a man’s desperate cries for assistance.
Tragic Outcome
In an attempt to neutralize the perceived threat, officers entered the residence. Regrettably, amidst the chaos, one officer discharged their firearm, fatally striking the woman.
We were able to rescue the male out of the house. At that point, get him out and get him to safety. Once we cleared the rest of the house, we then brought the suspect out to the front of the house to get immediate medical attention, stated Mesa Police.
Despite efforts to save her, the woman succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Her identity has not yet been disclosed to the public.
