CUPERTINO, Calif. – A devastating incident shook the community of Cupertino as an 11-year-old girl lost her life following a suspected DUI case involving a silver Mazda pickup. The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office disclosed the tragic news on Monday.

The young victim, Mahi Kothari, aged 11, tragically passed away on May 1, as confirmed by sheriff’s spokesman Brooks Jarosz. Hailing from Cupertino, Mahi was one of four children struck by the driver of the pickup on April 27.

The dreadful event unfolded around 6:14 p.m. near Foothill and Stevens Creek boulevards. The four children, aged 4, 7, 8, and Mahi, were innocently walking on the sidewalk when the pickup, among several vehicles involved in the crash, veered onto the sidewalk, striking them.
