LINCOLN COUNTY, Tenn. – Recent severe weather wreaked havoc across Middle Tennessee, with the National Weather Service (NWS) confirming nine tornadoes during the deadly outbreak. Five EF-1 tornadoes ravaged Lincoln County, leaving devastation in their wake.
Tornado Details
The NWS provided detailed accounts of the tornadoes’ paths and intensities:
- Fayetteville: The first tornado struck Fayetteville, registering wind speeds of 105 mph, spanning 1.38 miles with a maximum path width of 400 yards.
- Taft: A tornado with a peak wind speed of 105 mph swept through the southwestern region of the county.
- Petersburg: Early Thursday morning, a tornado hit Petersburg, with winds reaching 95 mph, stretching over 4.21 miles with a maximum path width of 300 yards.
- Flintville: Two tornadoes struck Flintville, with wind speeds of around 100-105 mph.
Regional Impact
The tornado outbreak extended beyond Lincoln County, affecting neighboring regions:
- May 8 Tornadoes: Additional tornadoes were confirmed in Maury, Robertson, Giles, and Rutherford Counties, adding to the region’s devastation.
