TAMPA, Fla. — Law enforcement authorities have disrupted a theft ring involved in the illicit trade of brand new appliances stolen from newly constructed homes across Florida. The operation spanned five counties, with three individuals apprehended for their alleged involvement in purchasing and reselling these stolen goods in and around the Tampa area.
Operation Details
Detectives revealed that the accused individuals operated two makeshift showrooms, utilizing a house and a storage facility to display and sell the stolen appliances. One of the suspects reportedly went as far as advertising the stolen items for sale online, further fueling the illicit trade.
Arrests and Charges
The individuals arrested in connection with the operation include Alberto Gomez Sardinas, 32, who faces charges including dealing in stolen property, unlawful use of two-way communications device, and dealing in stolen property via the internet. Jose Hernandez O’Relly, 36, is charged with multiple counts of dealing in stolen property and grand theft. Yansiel Consuegra, 24, is also facing charges related to dealing in stolen property.
Recovery Efforts
Authorities managed to recover more than $100,000 worth of unsold stolen property as part of the operation, marking a significant success in dismantling the theft ring. However, the investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement works to identify additional individuals involved in the trafficking of stolen appliances from various counties including Hillsborough, Marion, Hernando, Manatee, and Sarasota. Further charges may be filed as the investigation progresses.
