Arsonist Arrested in California After Setting Fires, Putting Children at Risk
In a concerning turn of events, a man with a history of arson-related incidents in Albuquerque has been apprehended in California, where authorities allege he continued his dangerous behavior, endangering the lives of children.
Previous Incidents in Albuquerque
Jonathan Nava, the individual in question, was previously arrested by the Albuquerque Police Department after allegedly attempting to set fire to a church and a gas pump in 2022. Following a pursuit and altercation with law enforcement officers, Nava was taken into custody. He subsequently pleaded guilty to assault and battery charges, as well as fleeing from authorities. Violations and Additional Arrest
Earlier this year, Nava’s probation was revoked due to various infractions, including failure to report to his probation officer, abandonment of a counseling program, termination of employment, and departure from the state of New Mexico. The alarming incident took place at Retreat Church and Yucaipa Christian Preschool, located just outside of San Bernardino. Despite the presence of 14 staff members and 48 children at the school, fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, the danger didn’t end there, as police later discovered that Nava had also set fire to a local optometrist’s office later that same day.
