Nevada Attorney General Joins US Department of Justice’s Lawsuit Against Live Nation
An arrest warrant has been issued for a daycare teacher in Summerlin, Las Vegas, charged with child abuse/neglect. Eryka Westover, 33, was apprehended on May 17 following allegations of misconduct at Shenker Academy, where she was employed.
Disturbing Video Evidence Emerges
Exclusive footage obtained by NEWS.ORG 5 sheds light on the disturbing behavior exhibited by Westover at Shenker Academy. In the video, Westover can be seen yelling at a tightly-swaddled child before forcefully placing them face down onto a bed or cot, accompanied by the statement, “I just body-slammed you.”
Concerns Raised by School Assistants and Parents
Assistants at the institution brought the incident to the attention of parents, revealing that Westover had been engaging in a pattern of abusive behavior including slapping, hitting, and pinching children. One parent disclosed that their child, who had trouble communicating due to a speech delay, began exhibiting signs of distress at home, echoing phrases like “Don’t touch me” and “Don’t hit me,” allegedly stemming from mistreatment by Westover at school.
Allegations of Aggressive Conduct and Inappropriate Discipline
In a letter addressed to the school board, concerned parents detailed Westover’s outwardly aggressive behavior towards the children, leading to repeated pleas from their children not to attend school. The letter further outlined instances of inappropriate disciplinary measures, such as forcing young children to run laps for typical behavior expected at their age.
Denial and Legal Proceedings
Westover, in her statement to law enforcement, denied any prior issues with the school or students, attributing her challenges to the unique circumstances of the COVID-19 era. She is scheduled to appear in Clark County Justice Court on June 24 to address the charges against her.
Conclusion: Accountability and Safeguarding Children
The allegations against Eryka Westover underscore the critical importance of vigilant oversight and accountability in educational settings. The safety and well-being of children must remain paramount, with measures in place to identify and address any instances of misconduct promptly.
