A Pierce County deputy arrested a man on Wednesday for stealing laundry detergent and threatening a QFC employee with a knife in Tacoma, Washington.

Around 3:20 p.m., reports of an armed robbery led a deputy to respond to the QFC located on Pacific Avenue S and 112th Street S in Tacoma. Store employees informed the deputy that a man wearing a red hoodie had stolen multiple yellow jugs of detergent. When approached by an employee, the suspect brandished a knife from a sheath on his waist, prompting the employee to step back. The suspect then left the store.

Suspect Apprehension

Despite the suspect’s departure, an astute employee managed to capture a clear photo of the suspect’s attire. Witnesses on the sidewalk reported seeing the suspect heading north on Pacific Ave. Utilizing this information, the deputy eventually located the suspect seated on a curb with two others on E 88th Street. Upon detaining the suspect, the deputy recovered three yellow detergent jugs, scented laundry crystals, and the knife from the sheath, which was seized as evidence.
