Long Beach, Calif. – The teenager fatally shot by Long Beach police during a home invasion last month has been identified as Brandon Ramon Salgado of San Bernardino, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner.

The incident occurred around 8:35 p.m. on April 26 on the 6800 block of Cerritos Avenue. Long Beach police responded to a report of a person with a gun. Upon arrival, they discovered a home invasion robbery in progress, with the suspect still on the property, according to police reports.

Upon encountering the suspect, officers observed that he was armed with what appeared to be a firearm. Efforts were made to de-escalate the situation, with officers engaging in dialogue with the teenager for over an hour. However, as the situation escalated, a SWAT team was called in.
