Kansas City, Mo. — The Kansas City Police Department responded to a one-vehicle crash in Kansas City, Missouri late Saturday night.
Details of the Incident
Reports indicate that a black Toyota Corolla was traveling at a high speed eastbound on Interstate 70 just before 11:45 p.m. The driver lost control of the vehicle, veering off the highway and colliding with a guardrail, causing damage to approximately 50 feet of it. Shockingly, the car landed on top of the guardrail following the impact.
Injuries and Investigation
Both the driver and the passenger were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, resulting in serious injuries for both individuals. Emergency services rushed them to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Weather conditions, stated the KCPD, were not a contributing factor to the accident, as it occurred before any rain or storms moved into the area. However, authorities are investigating the driver for possible driving under the influence (DUI) charges.
