PORT CLINTON, Ohio – African Safari Wildlife Park in Port Clinton is set to unveil a new addition to its walk-thru safari experience for the upcoming summer season: capybaras.

Captivating Capybaras

Known as the largest rodents globally, capybaras originate from the wetlands of South America and share ancestry with guinea pigs. Their popularity has surged, particularly on platforms like TikTok, where videos featuring these unusual creatures have garnered millions of views.

Capybara Habitat

The park has constructed a spacious 1,500 sq. ft. habitat for the capybaras, complete with amenities such as a pool, waterfall, and ample shade. Scheduled to arrive in late May, the capybaras will be ready to greet visitors starting mid-June.

Up-Close Encounters

Visitors will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the capybaras through an exclusive encounter experience. For $15 per guest, participants can pet, feed, and learn about these fascinating animals during a 10-minute session.

Enhanced Learning Experience

African Safari Wildlife Park director Kelsey Keller emphasizes the educational aspect of the capybara encounter, designed to provide guests with insights into these unique creatures while ensuring their welfare and comfort.

Safari Park Admission

General admission tickets to the park range from $20 to $33, offering access to both the drive-thru and walk-thru safari experiences. Special discounts are available for seniors, children, military personnel, and first responders.
