Port Clinton, Ohio – The African Safari Wildlife Park gears up for the summer season by welcoming capybaras, the world’s largest rodents, to its walk-thru safari experience. Originating from the South American wetlands and closely related to guinea pigs, these creatures have captured the hearts of social media users, particularly on TikTok, where videos featuring them have garnered millions of views.

A New Addition

The park has constructed a spacious 1,500 sq. ft. habitat for the capybaras, featuring amenities such as a pool, waterfall, and ample shade. Scheduled to arrive in late May, the capybaras will make their debut to guests in mid-June, offering an up-close encounter experience.

Capybara Encounter

Director Kelsey Keller emphasized the careful planning and research invested in creating the ideal habitat for these animals. The capybara encounter will allow visitors to interact with, feed, and learn about these fascinating creatures up close, providing an educational and immersive experience.

Ticket Information

Guests can participate in the 10-minute capybara encounter for a fee of $15 per person. It’s essential to note that closed-toe shoes are mandatory, and children under 3 years old cannot partake in the experience. This encounter is separate from the general admission ticket, which grants access to the park’s drive-thru and walk-thru safari experiences.

Diverse Wildlife Experience

In addition to the capybaras, visitors can explore other exotic animals within the park, including the African warthog, American alligator, and white-handed gibbon. Ticket prices vary depending on the season, ranging from $20 to $33, with discounts available for seniors, children, military personnel, and first responders.

Location and Contact Information

The African Safari Wildlife Park is located at 267 S. Lightner Road in Port Clinton, Ohio. For more information about the capybara encounter and park attractions, visit africansafariwildlifepark.com/safari/animal-encounters/capybara-encounter/.
