Altus Air Force Base is gearing up for another evacuation at McClellan Airport in Sacramento, as severe weather threatens the area once again.
Return of Military Planes
Officials at McClellan Airport announced that large military planes from the 97th Mobility Air Wing will be returning to the Sacramento area airport on Thursday, in preparation for the impending severe weather.

Altus AFB, in a social media update, warned of anticipated winds reaching up to 57 mph, hail as large as 1.5 inches, and the potential for tornado activity in the region.
Previous Evacuation
This isn’t the first time Altus AFB has evacuated aircraft to Sacramento due to severe weather. On April 15, a total of 27 aircraft, including the KC-135 Stratotanker, KC-46 Pegasus, and the C-17 Globemaster III, departed from Altus, Oklahoma, bound for Sacramento in response to similar weather threats.

The 97th Air Mobility Wing, stationed at Altus AFB, plays a crucial role in training aircrews for the C-17 Globemaster II, KC-135 Stratotanker, and KC-46 Pegasus aircraft, providing vital support to the U.S. Air Force.
