RACINE, Wis. – Racine Zoo welcomes its latest addition, a 2-year-old Andean bear named Inti, who has joined the Andean Bear Exhibit located at 2131 N. Main Street.
Getting Acquainted at Racine Zoo
Inti is currently undergoing medical examinations and getting acquainted with his new environment, including playing in the zoo’s pool, as per a recent news release.
Sharing Exhibit Time
Inti will not immediately be on exhibit as he settles in; during this time, he will share exhibit slots with a Sun bear named Fong. The two bears will alternate their display days.
From Salisbury to Racine
Originally from the Salisbury Zoo in Maryland, Inti made the move to Racine following a recommendation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums Species Survival Plan. This program aims to enhance genetic diversity and promote sustainability among endangered species.
