COLUMBUS, Ohio — Authorities have arrested a man following a domestic violence incident in Dublin, Ohio, on Wednesday afternoon.
Situation Unfolds on Strathcona Avenue
Upon receiving a report of a person with a knife, law enforcement responded to a residence located on the 6600 block of Strathcona Avenue around 3:07 p.m. Police discovered a woman who alleged she had been assaulted multiple times and held against her will by a man since Tuesday morning. Notably, the woman informed officers that her children were still inside the home.
Children Safely Retrieved, Suspect in Standoff
Efforts by police led to the safe retrieval of the children from the residence. Meanwhile, the male suspect remained concealed and barricaded within the premises. After a standoff ensued, law enforcement successfully apprehended the suspect.
Suspect Identified and Charges Filed
The apprehended individual has been identified as 26-year-old Zachariah Lantz. Police have filed charges against Lantz, which include four counts of aggravated menacing, three counts of domestic violence, kidnapping, and violating a protection order. Despite the ordeal, authorities have stated that no serious injuries were reported.
Previous Incidents and Legal Proceedings
Lantz has a prior arrest record, including an incident on February 22, for which he was due in court the following day. Charges stemming from that incident encompass two counts of harm by threat or force, violating a protection order, and resisting arrest. Additionally, Lantz faced a previous arrest on September 12, 2019, which involved a charge of domestic violence.
