Two individuals have been arrested in connection with separate stabbing incidents that occurred in Winston-Salem, resulting in one fatality and another individual sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.
Fatal Stabbing on North Liberty Street
The incident unfolded around 8:56 a.m. when law enforcement officers responded to reports of a stabbing on North Liberty Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 38-year-old Jamar Dewan Wiley, a resident of Greensboro, with a stab wound to the chest. Despite efforts to save him, Wiley succumbed to his injuries Tuesday evening.
Verbal Altercation Turns Deadly
According to investigators, Wiley was engaged in a verbal altercation with two individuals when one of them stabbed him before fleeing the scene in a Chevrolet Tahoe.
Second Stabbing on North Patterson Avenue
Shortly after the initial incident, around 9:13 a.m., another stabbing was reported on North Patterson Avenue. Responding officers found a 26-year-old man from Kernersville with a non-life-threatening stab wound. The victim reported being attacked by an assailant who fled in a Chevrolet Tahoe.
Connection Established
Through video evidence obtained from both locations, authorities were able to establish a connection between the two stabbing incidents.
Arrests Made
The Chevrolet Tahoe associated with the crimes was located at Northwest Boulevard and Marshall Street, where law enforcement officers conducted a traffic stop. Two individuals, identified as Jeffrey Hugo Silva, 30, and Oscar Daniel Noyola-Lopez, 27, both of Winston-Salem, were apprehended in connection with the stabbings.
Charges Filed
Noyola-Lopez faces charges of felony assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill/inflict serious injury and misdemeanor going armed to the terror of the public. Following Wiley’s death, Noyola-Lopez was additionally charged with felony murder.
Silva has been charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill/inflict serious injury and felony accessory after the fact.
No Bond Allowed
Both individuals have been denied bond.
