In August, a disturbing incident of assault unfolded in Gilbert, Arizona, leaving a 16-year-old victim with severe injuries. The court has kept the details under wraps, but the assailants, two 18-year-olds, and two 16-year-olds, were apprehended. The victim, who suffered internal kidney damage and other injuries, was attacked near an In-N-Out parking lot.

Victim’s Ordeal: A Father’s Perspective

In December 2023, we spoke with Richard Kuehner, the victim’s father, who revealed the extent of his son’s injuries. Following the brutal attack, blood was visible from the victim’s mouth. In response, Kuehner withdrew his son from school and sent him to live with his mother overseas, highlighting the severity of the situation.

International Consequences: Mother’s Heartbreak

The victim’s mother, residing in another country, received the dreaded phone call informing her about her son’s emergency room admission. Describing the experience as overwhelming, she likened it to a tsunami wave that continues to affect their lives. It was later discovered that a group of adults and teens not only attacked her son but also recorded the assault.

Challenges in Seeking Justice

The mother expressed frustration over the initial investigation, citing little to no action despite ample evidence. However, the case was eventually reopened due to public pressure and the emergence of other innocent victims coming forward. The renewed investigation led to the recent arrests of two 16-year-olds, Christopher Fantastic, and Aris Arredondo, both 18 years old.

Police Action and Community Concerns

As the Gilbert Police delve into the “Gilbert Goons” gang, responsible for the targeted assaults, there is a growing concern about teen violence in the community. Authorities are seeking assistance in identifying suspects involved in these incidents. The prosecutor highlighted the vulnerability of the victim during the assault, emphasizing the severity of the charges against Arredondo and Fantastic.

Legal Proceedings and Charges

In court, the judge revealed that Arredondo and Fantastic are associated with a group involved in similar targeted assaults. Bonds were set at $25,000 for both, with accusations of aggravated robbery and aggravated assault. The court documents remain sealed, underscoring the ongoing investigation’s sensitivity.

A Mother’s Plea for Action

The victim’s mother, now keeping a vigilant eye on her son, emphasized the psychological and emotional trauma he faces. She called for proactive measures to prevent such incidents, stressing the need to protect potential victims from lurking individuals within the community.

The Gilbert Police Department continues its efforts to address the “Gilbert Goons” gang and combat the concerning trend of teen violence in the area.
