Austin, Texas – Austin police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the suspect responsible for the fatal shooting of a man in south Austin. The incident occurred on May 5, at approximately 11:05 p.m., prompting a response from officers to the 700 block of West William Cannon Drive following a Check Welfare call regarding a bleeding man.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, identified as 63-year-old Aristeo Campos-Cuellar, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite being transported to a local hospital, Campos-Cuellar succumbed to his injuries.

In a separate incident on Sunday, around 8:40 p.m., authorities received numerous 911 calls reporting a shooting in the 1700 block of Rutland Dr. Investigations revealed that Campos-Cuellar had just arrived at an apartment complex accompanied by another individual when he was shot by an unidentified assailant who subsequently fled the scene.
