Dick Rutan, a distinguished figure in aviation history, began his journey in Reedley, California, where he attended Reedley Junior College. His passion for flying led him to become a decorated pilot, with notable service during the Vietnam War.

In 1986, Rutan made history by co-piloting the Voyager aircraft alongside Jeana Yeager on a record-setting journey around the world. Departing from Edwards Air Force Base in California on December 14, 1986, the Voyager’s successful non-stop, non-refueled flight marked a monumental achievement in aviation, capturing the world’s attention and solidifying Rutan’s place in history.
