The Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle is set to return to Chicago this weekend, bringing together roughly 28,000 participants from across the city.
Road Closures and Traffic Alterations
Chicagoans should be prepared for road closures and altered parking rules as the city gears up for Sunday’s Shamrock Shuffle race. Several roads will be affected, with some closures beginning as early as Friday.
- Balbo Drive Closure: Balbo Drive, spanning between Columbus Drive and DuSable Lake Shore Drive, will close at 10 a.m. on Friday, remaining shut until 6 a.m. on Monday.
- Columbus Drive Closure: Columbus Drive, from Randolph Street to Roosevelt Road, will be closed from Saturday through Monday.
The streets along the race route will be closed on Sunday during the event and will reopen as the final runners pass through. However, roads within Grant Park will experience prolonged closures due to a post-race celebration planned in the park until 1 p.m.
Race Routes and Schedule
The 8K run will commence from Columbus Drive and Monroe Street. The route will traverse through various iconic streets of Chicago, including Grand Avenue, State Street, Wacker Drive, Washington Boulevard, Jackson Boulevard, Franklin Street, Harrison Street, Michigan Avenue, and Roosevelt Road.
On the other hand, the 2-mile walk will begin from Columbus Drive and Monroe Street, utilizing Randolph Street to access the Lakefront Trail.
