Former Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar has taken legal action against the CEO of BIGPLAY Media, alleging wrongful termination and coercive behavior.

Kosar filed a lawsuit in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court, accusing BIGPLAY Media CEO Kendall Myles of violating the terms of his contract. The contract stipulated Kosar’s hosting of a monthly podcast and participation in public appearances during the NFL offseason.

Contractual Dispute

According to the lawsuit, Kosar’s attempts to schedule his public appearances went unanswered by BIGPLAY. Later, Myles allegedly pressured Kosar to attend events during the NFL season, contrary to their agreement. Kosar, citing prior commitments such as his role as an analyst on the Browns’ pregame radio show, refused to comply.

Alleged Threats and Coercion

The lawsuit further claims that Myles verbally threatened Kosar during a recording session, asserting ownership over him and yelling aggressively in close proximity, causing spittle to land on Kosar’s face.

Unlawful Wager

Additionally, Kosar’s contract reportedly included a provision for him to place a bet using a sports betting platform partnered with BIGPLAY at a charity event. However, the lawsuit alleges that Kosar was coerced into personally placing a $19,000 bet on the Browns to win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, a move that led to his termination from his radio job with the Browns.

Legal Remedies Sought

Kosar is seeking $850,000 in actual damages, along with attorney’s fees and punitive damages, as per the lawsuit filed this spring. The legal proceedings are overseen by Judge Timothy Clary.
