San Antonio, Texas – Bexar County commissioners have greenlit a significant financial boost, totaling over three million dollars, towards addressing the longstanding issue of stray and loose dogs plaguing the city. The funds are earmarked for the construction of a state-of-the-art animal care facility set to be established on the far west side of the county.

The decision comes as a response to the pressing need to alleviate overcrowding and enhance conditions at existing shelters. The proposed facility, to be erected on approximately 100 acres in far west Bexar County, aims to tackle the burgeoning population of stray animals while prioritizing public safety.
