A Boone County Sheriff’s Office jail transport van was involved in an accident in Lebanon, Indiana, Friday morning, resulting in several individuals being hospitalized.

According to a news release from the Lebanon Police Department, the incident occurred at the intersection of Noble Street and Indianapolis Avenue at approximately 9:50 a.m. on Friday. Law enforcement responded to the scene and discovered a collision involving two vehicles, one of which was the jail transport van.
The release indicated that seven individuals, including the driver of the transport van and three inmates from the Boone County Jail, were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Additionally, three others involved in the accident were occupants of the second vehicle.

Officials from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the van was being operated by an on-duty corrections officer who was responsible for transporting three inmates—two males and one female—to the Boone County Courthouse.
Sheriff Tony Harris expressed condolences, stating, “Our thoughts and prayers are with all those involved in the accident. The quick response from all first responders on the scene is greatly appreciated. We are doing everything we can to support our office personnel, inmates, and the public.”
