Pima Community College’s Aviation Technology Program is set to host a career fair and open house, offering abundant opportunities for aspiring aviation professionals. The event, scheduled for Tuesday, March 26th, from 3 to 6 p.m., promises valuable interactions with both local and national aviation employers, as well as insights from Pima’s esteemed instructors and students. Attendees will also have the chance to explore the program’s facilities with a guided tour of the hangar.
Addressing Industry Demand
With the aviation industry experiencing significant shifts due to factors like retirements and workforce changes, the demand for skilled professionals is at an all-time high. According to faculty instructor Chris Barnett, the sector has faced a substantial void following retirements preceding and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Barnett emphasizes the enduring nature of this demand, suggesting that it will persist for the foreseeable future.
Right before COVID and during COVID, there was a lot of retirement. A lot of the workforce and retainers left the industry and it left a big gap. The demand is going to be there for a while, Barnett stated.
Event Details
The career fair will be held at the Aviation Technology Center, conveniently situated near Valencia Rd. and Park Ave. Prospective attendees are encouraged to mark their calendars and prepare to engage with industry leaders, network with peers, and explore potential career pathways within aviation.
