Gathering at Apostle Supper Club in St. Paul, Community Remembers

St. Paul, Minnesota – A community in mourning came together at the Apostle Supper Club in St. Paul to honor the memory of fallen Minneapolis Police Officer Jamal Mitchell. Mitchell, a 36-year-old father of three, twin brother, fiancé, and dedicated officer, tragically lost his life while responding to a mass shooting in south Minneapolis.

Remembering a Hero

According to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), Mitchell was attempting to aid a man he believed was injured when he was ambushed and fatally shot. Former police officer Ron Whitman expressed disbelief, stating, I just can’t imagine someone playing injured so that they can ambush and murder a police officer.

Community Support at Fundraiser

On Saturday, the St. Paul Apostle Supper Club hosted a Hawaiian barbecue fundraiser, with 100% of chef Brian Ingram’s sales dedicated to supporting Mitchell’s grieving family. Ingram expressed deep sorrow, calling Mitchell a hero and highlighting the overwhelming support from various police departments across the metro area, with orders pouring in to contribute to the cause.

St. Paul police sergeant Jason Brubaker, alongside numerous officers, attended the event, acknowledging the impact of Mitchell’s tragic death on the law enforcement community. Brubaker shared his sentiments, stating, It has officers on the edge, and it does worry officers. I’m at a loss for words.

Aiming to Make a Difference

The organizers of the fundraiser aim to raise over $30,000 to support Mitchell’s family during this challenging time. Contributions can also be made to The Front Line Foundation to further assist those affected by this devastating loss.
