ATLANTA – On April 27, National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), prompts several local police departments in the Atlanta area to organize drug take-back events. These events serve as a safe, convenient, and responsible method for the disposal of prescription drugs, alongside educating the public about the risks of medication abuse.
East Point Police Department’s Event
The East Point Police Department will host a drug take-back event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at their station located at 2727 East Point Street.
Dunwoody Police Department’s Event
The Dunwoody Police Department’s drug take-back event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 4800 Ashford Dunwoody Road.
Gwinnett County Police Department’s Event
Gwinnett County Police Department will hold its drug take-back event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at various locations, including police headquarters, the department’s six precincts, and Coolray Field. The accepted items for disposal include tablets, capsules, patches, and other prescription drug forms. However, liquids, syringes, sharps, and other items will not be accepted.
Peachtree City Police Department’s Event
The Peachtree City Police Department’s drug take-back event is set to occur from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 350 Highway 74 South.
Snellville Police Department’s Event
The Snellville Police Department will host a drug take-back event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2315 Wisteria Drive.
For those whose local police department is not listed, they are encouraged to check social media accounts for event information or directly contact the department.
