Antonio Lopez-Cortes: Fatal Canal Crash

At 18th Avenue and Hatcher Road, a 43-year-old man, identified as Antonio Lopez-Cortes, met a tragic end after crashing his vehicle into a Phoenix canal around 5 p.m. Phoenix Police Sgt. Brian Bower reported that Lopez-Cortes was found critically injured at the bottom of the canal, with Phoenix Fire Personnel pronouncing him deceased on the scene. The circumstances leading to the crash remain under investigation.

Harlan Slender: Bicyclist Fatality

Tragedy struck again at 75th Avenue and Hazelwood Street, where 37-year-old Harlan Slender lost his life in a collision involving a truck around 6 p.m. Slender, who was riding his bicycle at the time, was struck by a truck driven by an adult male. Despite receiving immediate medical attention, Slender succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Police indicated that impairment isn’t suspected to be a factor in the incident, which remains under investigation.

Carrigan Jones: Fatal Motorcycle Crash

Meanwhile, at 31st Avenue and Camelback Road, another life was lost as an 18-year-old motorcyclist, Carrigan Jones, was fatally injured in a crash around 7:40 p.m. Jones lost control of his motorcycle, crashing into a light pole. Speed is believed to have played a role in the collision, according to Phoenix Police Sgt. Brian Bower. Investigations into the specifics of the incident are ongoing.

Unidentified Victim: Double Car Collision

The night’s tragic events culminated at 32nd Street and Windsor Avenue, where a pedestrian was struck by two cars around 10 p.m. Details surrounding the victim’s identity and the circumstances leading to the incident remain undisclosed. Police revealed that the victim was in the roadway when the first car struck them, followed shortly by a second car. Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, with no signs of impairment reported. Investigations into the incident are underway.
