Sheriff’s deputies in East Los Angeles shot and killed a man connected to an alleged domestic assault incident, as reported by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The incident occurred late Saturday night in the 1500 block of North Herbert, situated just north of Interstate 10 and east of downtown Los Angeles.

Dispatch and Pursuit

Deputies responded to a domestic assault call around 11:50 p.m. Upon arrival, they were informed that the suspect had left the scene in a green van. Authorities immediately initiated a search and located the vehicle heading westbound in the 3900 block of Snow Drive. Consequently, they initiated a traffic stop.

Confrontation and Shooting

According to the sheriff’s department, deputies attempted to detain the suspect at gunpoint after exiting their vehicle. The suspect, however, executed a U-turn in the cul-de-sac and drove toward one of the deputies, prompting the deputies to open fire. The suspect, described as a man in his 40s, sustained gunshot wounds to the upper body and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Deputy’s Injury and Investigation

During the confrontation, one of the deputies sustained an unspecified injury and was transported to a hospital for treatment. The extent of the deputy’s injuries has not been disclosed at this time.
