In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, law enforcement authorities have apprehended eight individuals across San Antonio, Houston, and Corpus Christi areas. The arrests come following a thorough investigation led by the FBI, revealing a sprawling network involved in the distribution of heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine.

The Arrests

The U.S. Department of Justice revealed that the apprehended individuals include Rene “Uber” Gonzales (31), Michael Fuentes (50), Rene Velasquez (52), Mario Zulaica (50), George Gonzales (47), Reynaldo Sanchez (38), Richard Gonzales (40), and Rene Revera (41). Each individual is suspected of playing a role in the trafficking and distribution of illicit substances.

Seized Contraband

During the operation, authorities seized a significant amount of narcotics and cash. A total of 60 kilograms of cocaine, valued at over $1 million, was confiscated, along with $250,000 in cash. Additionally, investigators uncovered a clandestine laboratory in Von Ormy, Texas, where liquid methamphetamine was being converted into crystal meth. From this facility, authorities seized 15 kilograms of crystal meth and 16 gallons of liquid methamphetamine.

Legal Ramifications

The arrested individuals face a slew of charges, including conspiracy with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine, more than five kilograms of cocaine, and more than 100 grams of heroin. Seven of the suspects face minimum sentences ranging from ten years to life imprisonment, while George Gonzales could face between 5 and 40 years behind bars.
