TROY, Mich. – Last month, Troy Police apprehended a drunk driver found sound asleep in the parking lot of Krispy Kreme, accompanied by a drunk passenger and a nearly empty bottle of tequila, according to official statements.

Despite the store being closed, they discovered a vehicle parked in the lot with two individuals asleep inside, a 26-year-old and a 25-year-old. Upon awakening the occupants, they relocated the vehicle to another spot within the parking lot, still running, as recounted by Troy Police Sgt. Ben Hancock.

Further investigation revealed that the pair had been downtown the preceding night. The driver confessed to having visited a Detroit casino and subsequently found themselves at the Krispy Kreme parking lot, admitted to consuming alcohol several hours prior to operating the vehicle.

Discovery of Evidence

Upon searching the vehicle, law enforcement officers discovered an open bottle of tequila in the backseat, with approximately three-quarters of its contents consumed. Additionally, a detectable odor of marijuana was noted within the car.

The driver claimed to have driven from the Detroit casino to drop off a second passenger residing in the vicinity of the Krispy Kreme on 14 Mile in Troy. Refusing a breathalyzer test, the driver was arrested and transported to the Troy Police Lock-Up Facility, where she eventually consented to a Chemical Breath Test. The result indicated a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .131, well above the legal limit of .08.
