Durham police have taken significant action against three juveniles allegedly involved in a series of vehicle break-ins in the Research Triangle Park (RTP) area, with 93 petitions filed against them.
String of Incidents
The incidents, which occurred between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Tuesday, involved multiple vehicle break-ins in the parking lots of businesses and a hotel.
Juveniles in Custody
Following the incidents, all three juveniles were apprehended in Butner on Wednesday, with the Durham Police Department filing petitions against them for their involvement in four separate incidents.
Charges and Locations
The juveniles face charges related to larceny from motor vehicles, breaking and entering, and conspiracy across various locations in Durham:
- 1700 block of T.W. Alexander Drive: Two counts of larceny from a motor vehicle, two counts of breaking and entering, and two counts of conspiracy.
- 100 block of National Way: Three counts of larceny from a motor vehicle, three counts of breaking and entering, and three counts of conspiracy.
- 40 block of National Way: Two counts of larceny from a motor vehicle, three counts of breaking and entering, and three counts of conspiracy.
- 900 block of Slater Road: Five counts of breaking and entering and five counts of conspiracy.
Connection to Previous Arrests
Authorities confirmed a connection between this case and the arrest of five juveniles in Butner, who were accused of similar crimes involving car break-ins, theft of firearms, and the use of a stolen getaway car.
