An Edmond couple’s wedding plans hit a snag when communication with their venue’s previous owner broke down, leaving them uncertain about their celebration.
Love Blossoms, Plans Unfold
Corey Vesey and his fiancée, engaged since March last year, had their hearts set on Round Midnight Bar and Jazz Lounge for their post-wedding celebration. Enchanted by its ambiance, they met with Benjamin Nockels, one of the venue’s previous owners, and agreed to pay $3,500.
Deposits Paid, Communication Lost
With a wedding date set for October 19, 2024, the couple eagerly put down a $1,500 deposit. However, communication with Nockels abruptly ceased, causing distress. Despite attempts to reach out via text and phone, they couldn’t get a response. Even a message to the venue’s Instagram page revealed their wedding reception wasn’t scheduled.
Venue’s Response
When News 4 contacted Round Midnight Bar and Jazz Lounge, they confirmed Nockels’ departure and stated they had no record of Vesey’s payment. Mike Garrison, one of the current owners, expressed regret over Nockels’ actions and offered a solution. The venue proposed The Stables as an alternative event space, free of charge, to rectify the situation.
Hope Restored
The couple’s relief was palpable upon hearing the news. Vesey expressed his desire to give his fiancée the wedding day she dreams of. Despite attempts to contact Nockels for comment, he declined to respond.
Conclusion: A Happy Ending
With the venue stepping up to correct the situation, Corey Vesey and his bride-to-be can look forward to their special day with renewed hope and excitement. As they prepare to tie the knot, their ordeal serves as a reminder of the importance of clear communication and reliable business practices in the wedding industry.
