AURORA, Colo. — The Aurora Reservoir, a popular recreation area located at 5800 South Powhaton Road, is undergoing significant changes aimed at enhancing visitor experience and managing crowds during the summer season.
Ban on Tubing and Swimming in Clear Creek
The reservoir, a hub for summer activities, is witnessing substantial alterations to its policies. Effective immediately, a ban on tubing and swimming has been put in place in Clear Creek, a move that aims to ensure the safety of visitors and maintain order in the area.
Alcohol Prohibition Implemented
In a bid to foster a family-friendly environment and mitigate potential incidents, the possession and consumption of all alcohol are now strictly prohibited within the premises of the Aurora Reservoir. This measure is part of a broader effort to cultivate a more wholesome atmosphere for all guests.
Revised Park Hours and Increased Security
Accompanying the alcohol ban are adjustments to park hours. Gates will now close at 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, a significant departure from the previous closing time of 9:30 p.m. These changes are designed to streamline crowd management and alleviate potential overcrowding issues during peak hours.
To further bolster security and ensure adherence to park regulations, there will be an augmentation of security measures, particularly on weekends. This reinforcement aims to uphold park rules and enhance visitor safety.
Strict Enforcement of Noise Regulations
In alignment with existing park rules, which prohibit loud music, there will be a concerted effort to strictly enforce noise regulations within the Aurora Reservoir. This enforcement seeks to preserve the tranquility of the environment and promote a more peaceful recreational experience for all patrons.
City’s Perspective and Future Evaluation
Commenting on the changes, Brooke Bell, Director of Parks, Recreation, and Open Space, emphasized the city’s commitment to enhancing the overall guest experience at the reservoir. Bell underscored the importance of these modifications in managing the influx of visitors and ensuring the sustainability of the recreational area.
The city reassures visitors that these changes are temporary and subject to evaluation in the future. The efficacy of the implemented measures will be assessed to gauge their impact on visitor satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Implementation and Awareness
The new regulations, including the alcohol ban and revised park hours, will take effect starting Saturday, June 8. To ensure widespread awareness and compliance, prominent signage will be displayed throughout the park, informing visitors of the updated rules and regulations.
As the summer season unfolds, the Aurora Reservoir remains committed to providing a safe, enjoyable, and inclusive environment for all guests. These measures reflect the city’s proactive approach to managing recreational spaces and prioritizing the well-being of its residents and visitors.
