A tragic incident unfolded in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, as a fatal crash involving a dirt bike claimed the life of a young man.
Crash Details
The Winston-Salem Police Department reported that on Sunday evening around 7:17 p.m., officers rushed to the scene of a traffic crash in the 2900 Block of Old Greensboro Road.
Investigators determined that a 2024 Honda 250 dirt bike, which was not designed for street use, was traveling west on Old Greensboro Road at a high speed without lights. Simultaneously, a Kia Optima was heading east on the same road.
The collision occurred when the Kia attempted to make a left turn onto Barbara Jane Avenue, and the dirt bike, traveling without visibility due to the lack of lights, came over a hill. The impact of the crash was devastating.
Victim Identified
The victim of this tragic accident was identified as Demontau Divine Patterson, a 25-year-old resident of Winston-Salem. Patterson, who was operating the dirt bike, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
Despite receiving immediate medical attention, Patterson sustained life-threatening injuries and tragically succumbed to them on Wednesday.
No Charges Filed
The driver of the Kia involved in the crash emerged without injuries. Law enforcement officials have confirmed that no charges are being pursued in connection with the incident.
