Burglary in Progress Call Leads to Tragic Outcome

The incident unfolded around 9 a.m. at a group home located near North Bowman and East Golder Ranch roads. According to PCSD, the situation originated from a burglary in progress call.

Armed Suspect Shot Dead by Deputy

A deputy from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department encountered an armed suspect who allegedly broke into the home and was holding another person hostage with a knife. Despite repeated commands to drop the weapon, the suspect refused, prompting the deputy to fire, ultimately resulting in the suspect’s death at the scene.

Hostage Victim Sustains Non-Life-Threatening Injuries

The individual held hostage during the ordeal sustained injuries deemed as non-life-threatening and was promptly transported to the hospital for treatment.

Investigation and Protocol

Following the incident, the Pima Regional Critical Incident Team, a customary procedure for all officer-involved shootings, was activated. The Tucson Police Department will spearhead the investigation, with support from the Marana Police.
